Las Vegas Things To Do (Other Than Gambling)

Well, most people who haven’t been to Las Vegas, think of it as a place of glaring lights, glamour, and gambling. Most of these resorts are an attraction in themselves as they offer free streetside shows. These shows could be anything from dancing fountains to erupting volcanoes. In actual, the city has a lot to offer other than its unique resorts and hotels on the Strip.

Unlike any other city, Las Vegas leaves you awestruck when you visit it for the first time. The best time to visit this fantastic city is during the winter season. If you are visiting Las Vegas for the first time, you can also read our more detailed post, Las Vegas: 29 Things You Should Know BEFORE You Book, for more information.

So, without further ado, let’s look at the top 7 things to do in Las Vegas!

BEST & THINGS TO DO IN LAS VEGAS (OTHER THAN GAMBLING)

Las Vegas Strip
Fun activities await you on the Las Vegas Strip–and beyond!

1. The Strip

This post needs to start with The Vegas Strip mention! The 4.2-mile-long section of the city is full of huge resorts, luxury hotels, and fantastic fine dine options. You need to check it out at night as it illuminates with an endless string of neon lights.

The Strip begins at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and ends at the Treasure Island Hotel. You’ll find other tourists wandering around capturing images. If you want to experience Sin City truly, consider spending most of your time on the Strip.

2. Fremont Street, Old Las Vegas

Just a few miles away from the Strip in the old downtown of Las Vegas is Fremont Street. Only pedestrians are allowed to move across the area and witness the unique sites. About five blocks of the street are covered with lights that illuminate the entire area with different colors.

At Fremont Street, each night is different from the other, and it hosts many entertainment acts and street performers. The best way to reach the area is through a taxi. Moreover, you can also take a lights night tour which takes you along all the attractions in the city.

3. Experience Venice in Las Vegas!

Yes! That’s possible. The Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas emulates the “City of Water.” Located on the Strip, the Venetian Hotel is one of the top resorts of the city and is often loved by tourists. The themed shopping arcade has everything similar to Venice, such as the canals, bridges, and gondoliers.

If you want to see the entire complex, the Venetian Gondola Rides are a fantastic way to get around the place. At the entrance of the hotel, you will see boats awaiting passengers. These boats then take the passengers to the shopping arcade inside the hotel.

4. Take A Full Day Trip to the Death Valley National Park

If you want to leave behind all the glamour, you can visit the Death Valley, National Park. You can do it in a single day if you head out early and arrive late at night. Most outdoor enthusiasts keep this trip as the highlight of their entire tour to Vegas. Imagine looking at otherworldly desert vistas!

Spanning over 3 million acres, almost all of the major sights at the park are relatively close to each other. There’s a must-visit Artist’s Drive, which has the lowest point in North America, Badwater Basin, and the most scenic Zabriskie Point.

5. Enjoy the Volcano Show at the Mirage

Another free attraction you could check out is the Volcano show. It takes place at the Mirage, which is a hotel on the Strip. The show features fire and explosions and is created by the same people who designed the Fountains of Bellagio. Similarly, another highlight of the Volcano Show is the accompanying music played by Mickey Hart and the legendary Zakir Hussain.

These shows are only three per night, so make sure to arrive early to get the right spot. You can also plan you stay at a hotel on the Strip to take full advantage of the free shows that take place around the clock.

6. Visit the Neon Museum

Another off-strip activity in Las Vegas is the Neon Museum. The museum offers impressive sights that leave an impression on its visitors. This multistory building is one of the main attractions of the city. The Neon Museum tries hard to preserve the historic neon signs businesses used in the early days.

You can see many of these old signs are resting in a compound just outside the museum. You can hire a guide to tell you all about their history and how these designs evolved over the years. Because most of these signs are gigantic, visiting the museum gives a lot of insight as to how much hard work is don’t behind keeping them working!

7. Visit the Mob Museum

The famous National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement is a unique place to visit in Las Vegas. Believe me, it is so unique that no other site matches its grandeur and history. Housed in a Neoclassical building, the Mob Museum was the place where Kefauver Committee hearings were conducted in 1950. These hearings hold significance in the history of Las Vegas as they revealed a lot about organized crime across the United States.

The Mob Museum tells the sorties of different characters engagingly through the use of videos and interactive displays.

Other Las Vegas Things To Do

Well, on the whole, Las Vegas has a plethora of unique experiences to offer, and this post covers all the must-visits. Furthermore, if you have more time on your hands, you can continue with the following recommended activities:

The Bellagio Fountains put on a free show for tourists. Don’t miss this.
  • Check out the fountain show at the Bellagio Resort.
  • Get on top of the High Roller Ferris Wheel on the Linq to see more unique views.
  • If you travel in summer, make sure to hit a Vegas pool party!
  • Seek thrill rides from the top of The Stratosphere, if you dare.
  • You can also visit the TopGolf if you want to try your hand at the sport.
  • Dash over the city with the help of ziplines!

Above all, during your visit, make sure to enjoy all the activities, both on and off-Strip. Also, you can check out dolphin shows, WWE, and sky diving!
