Now, it’s true that the table is an essential (oh sorry, the most essential) part of Thanksgiving. But other places in the home also need to be spruced up in preparation for this thankful season. That’s why today we are (somewhat) taking our attention off the table and the accompanying feasts and rather, focusing on the overall home decor and key themes of hospitality and conviviality. From your front porch to your mantel, let your abode show indeed how thankful you are.

1.     Fireplace mantel decor

Keeping with the season, this fall-themed decor deftly combines a variety of things. For instance, gourds, pumpkins, dried wheat, hay, and cute baskets. Put these together to achieve a Thanksgiving piece reminiscent of harvest. But the biggest eye-catching feature of this decor would have to be the symmetrical arrangement of inexpensive plates on the wall above the mantel. Because it immediately captures and holds the attention of guests. And let’s face it, it is downright elegant! If you’re really keen on the plate-decor idea, then scroll on down the list. (Psst! It’s No. 6)

Want something a bit more celebratory? Then banners and garlands would make a colorful display above the fireplace.

Or you could instead go with a strictly leafy decor on your mantel. For example, leaves in vases, garlands of leaves, and a picture of leaves in autumn:

Faux leaves sprinkled with glitter is another dazzling option for your fireplace:

Moreover, white gourds, wreath, and yes, a garland of leaves give this fireplace an antique and yet classy feel.

2.     Front porch decor

Before guests step into your home to admire the beautiful tablescape or the mantel decor, the front porch should already set a welcoming and celebratory tone. So this Thanksgiving, choose from this impressive array of wreaths for your doors:

You can also decorate your porch with pumpkins decorated with colorful ribbons and displaying warm thankful messages:

Alternatively, get an antique chair, a chalkboard sign, some pumpkins and leaf branches, and voila!

3.     Chair decor

It’s funny how we all concentrate on making our tables beautiful and forget about the chairs. So this year, show some love to your dining room chairs. Your guests would be grateful.

Small gourds can also be placed in glass containers and topped off with a pumpkin vine to achieve a brilliant effect:

You can achieve an even more colorful effect with tangerines, cloves, and pinecones:

If all you have are small pumpkins, then you can place them in a bell jar, cover with a plate and turn the jar upside down. The result is one unique decoration.

5.     Traditional decor

The cornucopia is one of the most iconic symbols of Thanksgiving and fall. Including it in your home decor is a traditional and yet stylish option. From fruits, vegetables, gourds, pumpkins and Indian corn to cookies, jams and chocolates, let your horn of plenty overflow with abundance.

While the cornucopia symbolizes the old Thanksgiving tradition, the thankful tree is becoming a new tradition for the season. Handwritten notes of thanks are attached to tree branches, and the tree is then used as a symbolic and memorable decor piece.
