Moving to a new house – especially if it’s your first one – is a big deal. Not only are you breaking out of the parent’s home, you’re finally finding your feet with your independence. It also means that you get to go shopping! The excitement of making your new house into a home can often overtake the need to unpack all the boxes and get things set up properly. It’s a mistake to run out and buy every single homely item you can find to make your house look good, as you should take careful time to get to know the house that you’ve moved into before you splash the cash.

How to Organize Your Move to a New Home
There are items that you will need immediately and there are also items that you will need to buy but not quite yet. As long as you have somewhere to sit, somewhere to cook and the best of the best of mattresses to sleep on, you’re going to be able to wait for the rest of the house ‘stuff’ that gets in the way. Below, you’ll find five essentials that you really must get for your new house, as quick as you like!
Cleaning Supplies.
This may not be a furniture item, but it’s an absolute necessity. Moving into a new house is messy, and it’s often the preference of people to clean the floors and wash out the cupboards before they move into a new property. It means that you need a shopping trip for mops, brooms, rags, and cleaning supplies. Order this shopping online and arrange to have it delivered along with pantry staples and basic groceries the day that you move in.
Something Luxurious.
We all do it. We window shop and we say, ‘one day I’ll have that’ to the luxury item of your dreams. For some people, it’s a bigger, flatter TV set. For others, it’s a sofa that doesn’t ag or a bedroom suite that matches. It’s important to have at least one thing in your home that you really want, so don’t skimp on it.
Trash Cans.
Believe it or not, trash cans are one of the household items that most people forget to buy when they are planning the things that they need for a new home. Trash cans are a necessity for your kitchen but also the bathrooms.
Small Kitchen Appliances.
You don’t realize how often you actually use a toaster or microwave until you don’t have one anymore. Make sure that you remember to budget for the small appliances that you use the most so that you can purchase new ones when you get the keys to the new place.
Bedding.
You may have a bed, but you need pillows, sheets, comforters, and blankets for your bed! There’s no point in buying a bed that is just going to have a mattress and a base; there’s nothing comfortable about that.
Choose what you need to buy for your new home wisely. The last thing you want to do is clutter out the new house before you’ve even unpacked.
