These moist, scrumptious red velvet sugar cookies come from a cake mix. Your secret is safe--they taste, smell, and look scratch-made.

Ingredients

  • One box of your favorite brand of Red Velvet Cake Mix
  • 1/3 cup of vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 tsp. of pure vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs whisked
  • 1/4 cup granulated white sugar (for rolling)

Method

  1. Put the cake mix, vegetable oil, pure vanilla extract, and eggs into a large mixing bowl.
  2. Stir everything until well combined.
  3. Cover the bowl and place in the fridge for twenty minutes, to chill the dough. If you try to shape the cookies without this step, they will be unmanageable.
  4. Preheat the oven to 350° F
  5. After the chilling time ends, shape the dough into 24 evenly-sized balls. Roll in the granulated sugar.
  6. Put the cookies on an ungreased non-stick cookie sheet (I use stoneware, nothing sticks).
  7. Bake for ten minutes for a fudgier textured cookie or twelve minutes for a firmer texture.
