Makeover Your Home Exterior with 3 Easy Jobs

Is a makeover of your home’s exterior in order? We are looking at a few minor issues that make your house look shabby. Fortunately, you can use our tips to hop from drab to fab.

Your home is your castle, and, if you are in any way houseproud, then you probably want it to look great from the outside. But depending on where you live, you may find that your exteriors end up looking shabby and dirty, and cleaning them up can be a bit of a chore than you may not want to face.

Getting your exterior looking great is not just a matter of personal pride, it can add some real curb appeal to your property. This is, of course, going to be very useful if you are planning on selling your home in the near future. Even if you are not planning on selling for the foreseeable future, take care of the outside of your house now. That’s because it will mean that it is a less costly job than when it has gotten into a much worse state in the future.

3 Common Issues That You Can Makeover Easily (and Boost Your Curb Appeal)

Check to see if you have these home exterior concerns.

Problem 1 – The Birds

If you live in an area that is popular with birds, you may well enjoy seeing them in your garden, particularly if you have a bird feeder. But when they decide to make nests in your roof, or just perch on your roof, or on your gutter, they can leave a terrible mess behind them.

Whether you are inundated with pigeons, or live near the sea and are in the path of lots of seagulls, your roof may be a hotspot for birds as they go about their lives.

The unsightly stains that birds will leave on your home can be tough to shift too, and it is not a job that you probably want to be doing. By using fixed deterrents and bird spikes, you can stop birds from sitting where you don’t want them to go.

Problem 2 -Gutter Problems

If you have any trees within the vicinity of your property, come the fall months, you may well find that your gutters get clogged up with leaves. Over time, these leaves will decompose in your gutter causing blockages. This, in turn, will leave to water finding its own way out, which could cause damage to your pipes and staining of your walls.

By simply climbing up a ladder and cleaning out your gutters every few months you could save yourself the need to pay to replace broken guttering. You’ll also avoid the need to repaint the outside of your home for just a little bit longer.

Problem 3 – Grungy Looking Windows

Your windows may get forgotten about. If you don’t have a window cleaner visiting your property often, you may find that they quickly get very grubby. Cleaning your windows every couple of weeks will help to give your windows the shine they deserve.

Cleaning your window frames will help to make sure that they last as long as possible. Unfortunately, allowing debris and dirt to build up in these areas could cause them to rot or deteriorate. If you have wooden frames, make sure that you treat the wood from time-to-time. Furthermore, you should give them a coat of paint to bring them back to life again.

The Bottom Line: Makeover Your Home by Checking Off Your Maintenance Checklist

Your home can get a makeover just by your completion of these minor home maintenance chores. And, beyond the aspect of a makeover, your home will be safer, cleaner, and healthier for you and your family.
