This InstaPot craze continues. As the pandemic drags on, cooking at home is our “new normal” for the foreseeable future. But do you miss hitting your favorite coffee shop for iced coffee?

No worry — your InstaPot comes to the rescue!

Today, I’m sharing a method for you to make a great big batch of iced coffee concentrate. You store it for a week and get your caffeine blast in just seconds.

InstaPot is America’s leading brand. But if you have other electric pressure cookers, such as Instant Pot or Cuisinart, no worry. They will also do the trick.

Shall we begin?

About the InstaPot

If stumbled across this blog post trying to learn about the InstaPot before you purchase one, congratulations! You are about to make an excellent purchase that adds convenience to your life.

Regardless of the brand of electric pressure cooker you buy, you will be able to make freshly, cooked healthy meals for your family in minutes instead of hours.

Here are the benefits of investing in an electric pressure cooker:

  • These units are energy efficient.
  • Your food retains the beneficial vitamins and minerals.
  • Even “dry” cuts of meat with little fat (think chicken breasts or turkey tenderloins) emerge moist and succulent.
  • Save hours per week on your cooking chores.
  • Most units have a dishwasher-safe inner liner for easy cleaning. Of course, check your manufacturer’s guide for specifics on this topic.
  • If you live in a warm climate, use this unit instead of an oven–which runs for hours, heating the whole kitchen!
  • You can save on your grocery budget by preparing tougher cuts of meat that tenderize during the cycle.

InstaPot Iced Coffee Concentrate Recipe

Yield: 5 cups of iced coffee concentrate
Prep Time: 2 minutes
Cook Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 7 minutes

Make InstaPot Iced Coffee Concentrate. You'll save time and money (and it has zero calories). Better yet, you only need two ingredients!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups of ground coffee of your choice
  • 5 cups of fresh water

Instructions

    1. Put the water and ground coffee in your InstaPot; stir them together. You can use regular or decaf, whichever you prefer.
    2. Following the safety instructions that came with your electric pressure cooker, set your pot to default - high pressure and set the timer to five minutes
    3. After the timer alerts you, release the pressure from the cooker and remove its lid. (BTW, your kitchen smells amazing by now)
    4. I use a classic pour over coffee pot to filter my Iced Coffee concentrate. But if you do not have one handy, carefully strain the grounds using a small colander, basket coffee filter, and filter into a pitcher.
    5. When you make iced coffee, you will pour the concentrate you just made with water over ice, in a 1:4 ratio (one part of the concentrate to four parts of cold water).

Notes

You can change this up and have a lot of fun with this very easy to follow recipe! The only limit is your imagination! Think of fun, seasonal flavors to add to the line-up, and you can craft unique iced coffee creations all year long.

Use Your Imagination to Create Custom InstaPot Concentrates

The recipe calls for your favorite coffee, you may choose decaf or regular.

But with a little imagination, you can craft unique beverages according to any season or taste.

Some fun flavors I use in place of regular coffee are these blends:

You can also change up the basic iced coffee concentrate by adding milk, half-and-half, flavored creamers, or coffee syrup products.

Storing the Iced Coffee Concentrate

This recipe makes about forty-ish ounces of concentrate. Considering that you mix it in a one-to-four coffee-to-water ratio… That is a LOT of iced coffee.

Once you allow it to cool, follow food safety protocols, and store your concoction to enjoy later.

You may store it in the fridge for up to a week. I pour about half of the batch into a mason jar, close the lid, and store it in the fridge.

I freeze the rest of the batch in a freezer container from the dollar store. Remember to allow for expansion, or you will end up with coffee all over your freezer. I learned this lesson first-hand. These days, I fill the container about three-fourths before putting the lid on it.

My friend stores her batch in ice cube trays for single-serve coffee on demand–she’s an overachiever and far more organized than I am!

The Bottom Line: Using Your InstaPot to Make Iced Coffee Concentrate at Home is Easy!

Now you know how to use your InstaPot in a new, unique way. So if you are an iced coffee lover, you will save time and money–and find creative flavor combinations.

Once you master the basic techniques, you will find this so easy to make. In fact, you will never want to do without a batch in your fridge, ready and waiting to satisfy your next caffeine craving!
