Home Renovations Logistics to Consider

Did you consider home renovations logistics as you plan your next project?

Logistics is the proper management of workflow and materials.  In other words, you need to ensure you have the tools, equipment, and goods you need to complete the work at the right time.

Failing to plan ahead can leave you with unproductive times. It leaves you in disarray and might even cost you more money.

A home renovation takes meticulous planning in order to be implemented correctly without any drawbacks or issues in the logistics. However, in the world of design and renovation, this doesn’t always go to plan. However, with methodical plans, you can in fact make the process much simpler; just by looking at the logistics and the theory behind what you’re doing.

Both an architect and an interior designer are qualified to submit a work plan for home renovation, so you can choose which one to turn to according to your preference and according to your budget.

Once you know what the budget is, the plan can be adjusted to the finances in place. If, for example, the contractor’s bid is too expensive, it is possible to repair the plan before starting work, cancel certain plans or look at other ways around it. This empowers you to make sure you have the right materials on site at the right time. If you don’t plan for these things, you can have unnecessary work stoppages.

Surveying and having the area checked is important; which is also why 203K home inspections are important. If you have the necessary checks are done beforehand and all the safety and regulations, it will make the actual execution of the work much easier. Therefore, once this has been completed, you must ensure that you are adhering to the simplest methods.

What to do now and what to do later to prepare for the best home renovations logistics?

What is important to include in the initial work plan and what can be postponed for the next? Let’s take a look.

First stage:

In the initial stage, it is important to have a demolition and construction plan, an electrical and lighting plan, and a plumbing plan. It is important that you know, in advance, all the dimensions of the furniture and its location in the house, choose the kitchen, and thoroughly prepare each plan so that you can create a functional space. More so in the kitchen and bathroom. It may be something as simple as ensuring it’s possible to have the LED lights above the kitchen cabinets to light them.

It is important that we know if anything needs to be done with the flooring or the ceiling; removing anything that could be a fire hazard or danger. Then, as time moves forward, the pleasurable aspect of designing the aesthetic element comes into play.

Second stage:

At this stage, you can also choose exterior and interior doors, the lighting fixtures, and all the carpentry work required. You should also prepare a work plan of ‘wall layout’ so that we know exactly where to start laying each tile, to avoid design mistakes in the field. The end decisions should be the final design details. Once the main work has been done, you may even change your thoughts on what looks good and what doesn’t. The color of the flooring and the color of the walls can match or emphasize another color perhaps. The place where you wanted a kitchen table, may now look nicer empty or with a potted plant or such.

Final stage:

And the final touches? Of course, the art, the accessories, the rugs, the curtains, and light fixtures. Do not neglect the garden and terrace in the planning stages too – although perhaps that is for another occasion!
