Beaches offer the best escape from the chilling winters. That why we’ve come up with a list of the nine best beaches that will help you escape the winter cold.

9 Best Beaches for a Winter Escape

Here are the nominees for 9 best beaches for winter travels.

1. Trunk Bay, St. John, Virgin Islands

Imagine walking in velvety-soft sands while enjoying mild breezes and crystalline surf. Yes, this is what greets you at Trunk Bay on the tropical island of St. John. The best thing is that the temperature of these islands remains moderate even in the coldest months. On average, the temperate during the winter months hovers in the 80s. While you can sunbathe on the shoreline all you want, the Virgin Islands National Park has a lot to offer. For instance, you can snorkel at the Trunk Bay Underwater Reef Trial, a 225-yard colorful path that has colorful corals and exotic marine life.

2. Laguna Beach, California

The frigid months of winter bring snow flurries in most regions of the United States. But luckily, the Western Coast of California still clings to the sliver of sun. consider driving yourself to the rugged coastline through the scenic Pacific Coast Highway and stop at the Laguna Beach. The Orange County town came to fame in early 2004 – thanks to a high school-age Lauren Conrad. Laguna Beach is famous for its mild temperature and eight miles of rambling coves and beaches – including the main beach – “Window to the Sea.”

3. Pink Sands Beach, Bahamas

Most people traveling to the Bahamas dedicate a significant chunk of their trip to Nassau or Paradise Island. But, people looking for a getaway from touristy places end up on a ferry to Harbour Island to spend a lazy day on Pink Sands Beach. The three-mile coral reef-protected shore is laid back and offers a peaceful time and some good sun tanning. To add on, the best thing about this location is its pale pink sand. It is always cool to the touch, and you can walk barefoot without worrying about your feet.

4. Bavaro Beach, Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Bavaro Beach is the true manifestation of a tropical getaway. With its powdery sand and natural palm trees, and coconut water, you get the complete experience of being at the seaside. Bavaro beach is one of the best beaches in Punta Cana as it offers several activities such as scuba diving, sailing, caving, shopping, ATVing, and snorkeling. You can also stay at an all-inclusive resort and enjoy endless luxuries.

5. Tulum Ruins Beach, Cancun, Mexico

The Cancun tourist region of Mexico holds some of the best beaches in the world. Tulum Ruins Beach is relatively famous as it is at the Mayan ruins site called Tulum. The way to the destination is unique as you have to hike across the jungle and walk through the ancient stone buildings of the old city. Similarly, most first-time visitors report being awestruck when they see the shocking blue ocean against the backdrop of cliffs and ruins. After descending the staircase, walk your way around the El Castillo and spend the time of your life on the sand that’s nearby.

6. Horseshoe Bay, Bermuda

Bermuda has a lot of great beaches. The 21-mile-long island isn’t short of the warm getaways, but the best among them is the fine, white, and pink-sand Horseshoe Bay. Covered in limestone rocks and intimate coves, this beach along the Atlantic shoreline is named after its curved shape. While you might find this place full of tourists, you can still find your getaway in the nearby inlets like Rocky Port Royal Cove to the west or the Peel Rock Cove to the east. Furthermore, after getting a good dose of the sun, consider spending some time in the water by snorkeling with some exotic aquatic life.

7. Smathers Beach, Key West

Imagine getting a taste of the Bahamas in your very own Florida. Yes! Rumor has it that the sand of this beach is native to the Bahamas. Each year, after the hurricanes wipe away the beach’s shore, the state ships in a lot of sand from the Caribbean to replenish the shore. Despite borrowing from other beaches, Smathers Beach is famous for its exceptional sunset and a great winter retreat. The tide on this beach isn’t strong enough for surfing, and people spend their time snorkeling and swimming. Another key point that makes Smathers a must-visit is its location a mile away from Duval Street in Old Town.

8. Spanish Wall Beach, Rincon, Puerto Rico

If you are looking for a unique getaway, unknown to the tourists, then consider heading to the Spanish Walls. The thing that has kept this beach off from people’s radar is the fact that it requires a hike from Domes Beach along the Domes Trail. After the hike, you find yourself at a secluded coast with shallow water at the western top of Rincon. It is important to note that not only this stretch of land is secluded, but it also offers the best experience for surfers.

9. Mauna Kea Beach (Kauna’oa Bay), Hawaii

In Hawaii, all beaches are open to the public. While there are a lot of great options to choose from, Mauna Kea is my most recommended one. The access to this is controlled by the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, which keeps the crowds to a bare minimum. If you wish to spend the time on this property, consider coming in early as the hotel has only 40 parking spots for non-guests. If you visit this site during the day, you can enjoy the sloping white sands gently touching the surfs. Whereas, those who visit in the night time get to see manta rays feeding on plankton.
